Product Description

The ZPG-type automatic backwash strainer overcomes the numerous shortcomings of traditional filtration products—such as low dirt-holding capacity, susceptibility to clogging by contaminants, the need to disassemble the filtration section for cleaning, and the inability to monitor filtration status. It filters raw water and automatically cleans and flushes the filter cartridges, while maintaining uninterrupted water supply during the cleaning and flushing process. The strainer's operating status can be monitored, and it features a high degree of automation. Backwash strainers can be installed in any orientation—vertical, horizontal, or inverted—and are suitable for water filtration across a wide range of industries, including industrial, agricultural, municipal, power generation, electronics, pharmaceuticals, food processing, textile printing and dyeing, construction, steel, metallurgy, and papermaking.

How It Works

1. Operating Filtration: During normal operation, the water flow diverter valve is in the open position. Water to be treated passes through the filter screen, and due to the principle of inertia, fine particulate impurities and suspended solids in the water settle near the drain outlet.
2. Flushing and Drainage: During normal flushing, the water flow diverter valve is open. When the strainer has trapped a certain amount of fine particulate impurities and suspended solids from the water, open the valve at the drain port. The water flow will then flush out some of the impurities adhering to the strainer’s collection section until the discharged water runs clear. Close the valve at the drain port to return to normal operation.
3. Backwash Drainage: During backwashing, the flow diverter valve is closed and the drain valve is open. This forces water to enter the annular space between the filter cartridge and the housing through the mesh openings in the inlet section of the filter cartridge, thereby flushing impurities adhering to the mesh openings from the outside of the cartridge in the opposite direction to clean the filter screen. Since the flow diverter valve is closed, the water velocity increases after passing through the backwash valve, resulting in effective backwashing.

Installation Instructions

The ZPG-type (angle-style) automatic backwash and drain strainer should be installed on a right-angle elbow, while the ZPG-type (straight-through) automatic backwash and drain strainer should be installed horizontally or vertically. When the straight-through type is installed vertically, the water flow should be from top to bottom. During installation, ensure that the direction of the arrow on the housing matches the direction of water flow.
