Product Description

The KTH11X automatic return water on-off valve is an essential component for the return water pipeline of atmospheric pressure boilers. It can also serve as a hydraulically actuated on-off control device for general piping applications. Only with this valve installed can the boiler truly operate under atmospheric pressure conditions. Without it, the boiler will either fail to operate, operate under pressure and create hazardous conditions, or require the installation of costly electromagnetic control devices as an alternative. When the circulating pump starts, pressure is transmitted through the pressure control tube to the control valve, causing it to open and the system to begin circulation. When the pump stops, the return water pressure combined with the return spring force closes the return water control valve. This design effectively prevents return water from entering the boiler and causing overflow in the event of sudden power failure or any other condition that shuts down the circulating pump.In conventional boiler systems, traditional return water on-off valves are unable to automatically sense the operating status of the circulating pump. This necessitates constant manual intervention to open and close the valve — a process that is both labor-intensive and time-consuming. The KTH11X automatic return water on-off valve effectively solves this problem by automatically opening and closing in synchronization with the circulating water system. This significantly reduces manual labor, enhances operational efficiency, and also eliminates the risk of boiler overflow.

Structural Features

  1. This valve opens automatically when the pump starts, ensuring unobstructed return flow. Whenever the pump stops running—regardless of the reason—the valve automatically shuts off the return flow, thereby preventing backflow.
  2. The boiler return water automatic on-off valve has built-in buffering capabilities, and under normal conditions, it performs very well; however, due to the complexity of some piping systems, water hammer may occur in a very small number of cases.

How It Works

How the boiler return water automatic on-off valve works is very simple; its core component is actually a piston. Inside the valve body is a vertical shaft; connected to the top of the shaft is a freely moving piston, and at the bottom are a conical valve and a compression spring. When the boiler recirculation system begins operation, the upper piston is pushed downward by the pressure of the hot water, thereby opening the conical valve. When the circulating water system stops operating, the upper piston loses the pressure from the hot water and moves upward, closing the conical valve. This effectively resolves the problem of boiler overflow.

Installation Instructions

  1. Install the automatic return water shut-off valve according to the specified method and location, paying special attention to the direction indicated by the arrow on the valve body.
  2. Gate valves should be installed at both ends of the automatic return water control valve body.
  3. The control line for the automatic recirculation valve must be connected to the discharge line, between the pump outlet and the check valve. Never install it on the pipe connected to the outlet of the check valve; otherwise, the valve will not function properly.
  4. Do not allow lint or other debris to enter the valve connection.
  5. A strainer must be installed upstream of this valve; otherwise, debris may become lodged against the valve disc, causing leakage.

Operating Procedures

  1. After verifying that the process flow complies with the construction drawings, that the gate orientation is correct, and that the manual pump shows no abnormalities, the pump ran smoothly during the dry run, and the direction was correct.
  2. Open the pump inlet valve, control valve line, vent valve, and drain valve, then fill the system with water. Once all air has been purged, close the vent valve and drain valve, and the pump can be started to supply water.
  3. When two pumps are connected in parallel (one in operation, one on standby), the control valves must not be opened simultaneously; otherwise, the automatic check valve may not open properly.
  4. If the automatic check valve needs to remain open temporarily after the pump is shut down, the control valve must be fully closed before shutting down the pump.
  5. If the automatic check valve closes too quickly and makes a loud noise, reduce the control valve opening to an appropriate position until the noise stops.

Troubleshooting Solutions

  1. The automatic return water shut-off valve won't open: Carefully check whether the valve is installed properly, whether it is being operated correctly, and whether the control line valve is open.
  2. Boiler overflow when the pump is stopped: Check for operating errors and inspect the check valve for leaks.
