Product Description
The 2W Series Water & Air Direct Acting Solenoid Valve is an electromagnetically controlled industrial device and a fundamental automated component used to regulate fluid flow. With its diverse functionalities and structural designs, it is widely used in industrial and manufacturing applications. This solenoid valve enables the opening and closing of fluid lines through electrical control.
The Difference Between Normally Closed and Normally Open
Solenoid valves commonly used in everyday applications are broadly divided into two types: normally closed and normally open. A normally closed solenoid valve refers to one where the air circuit is open when the coil is not energised. A normally open solenoid valve refers to one where the air circuit is open when the coil is not energised. Operating principle of normally closed solenoid valves: When the coil is energised, the air circuit is opened; once the coil is de-energised, the air circuit is closed. This is equivalent to momentary operation. Operating principle of normally open solenoid valves: When the coil is energised, the air circuit is closed; once the coil is de-energised, the air circuit is opened. This is also momentary operation.
How to Choose According to Different Work Requirements
- Where a solenoid valve needs to remain closed for long periods, and the time spent closed exceeds the time spent open, a normally closed type should be selected.
- When a solenoid valve needs to remain open for long periods, and the time it is open exceeds the time it is closed, a normally open type should be selected.
- When a valve needs to remain open or closed for extended periods, a self-holding solenoid valve — also known as a normally open or normally closed solenoid valve — should be selected.
- However, in certain safety-critical applications, such as flame detection in furnaces and kilns, normally open contacts should not be used; instead, a type capable of being continuously energised should be selected.
Installation Instructions
- Install the solenoid valve so that the pipe remains horizontal, and the coil remains vertical.
- A check valve must be installed on the discharge line if there is backflow.
- The medium must be clean and non-corrosive (suitable for water or compressed air).
